Teachers are the central figures to determine what kind of appropriate strategies, methods, and approaches is chosen in their classrooms. For being a teacher, there are so many aspects that we should be considered to make a great learning process. To measure the level of teacher`s competences, educational experts have classified them known as the teacher developmental stages. Some factors that influence these stages are: teachers` knowledge, teachers` dispositions and beliefs, and intellectual, moral, and social dimensions of the teachers. The teachers` developmental stages will describe how the teaching and learning process happened in the school.
Teachers` knowledge involves pedagogical knowledge, subject content knowledge, curriculum knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, knowledge about learners, context knowledge, and educational philosophy knowledge. Teachers should know many things to proof their professional. Their knowledge will help them to design and decide the instructional teaching. The deep understanding about teachers knowledge is one of the criteria being a wise teacher.
Teachers disposition and beliefs are often defined as the personal qualities or characteristics that are possessed by individuals, including interests, appreciations, values, and modes of adjustment. In this term, teachers have to be aware that they are the educators. They educate young generations to be the leader for the future nation. Teaching must be an interested activity for teachers and have much more passionate in it. For doing the duties as teachers, they should believe that everybody has chance to be successful person and students can learn everything as long as they want.
Intellectual, moral, and social dimensions are the important aspects for the teachers. Intellectual dimension means that teachers have deep understanding about the learning contents and concepts. They can develop the ideas and integrate them to be the meaningful subjects. In moral dimension, teachers encourage students not only to achieve knowledge and skills but also internalize the core values in their lives. Teachers should be the models first to show their good morals and mentalities to the students. Social dimension can be observed by how the teachers communicate and interact to others. They have critical and analytical responses to the social phenomena. They involve in the school activities and understand what should and not should do to maintain a dynamic socialization.
