Learning is a model of interactions
designed to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes of learners. In learning
process, learners or students need guidance by teachers to achieve educational
objectives. Multiple interactions have occurred between students-teachers,
students-students, teachers-teachers, and students-teachers-environments in learning process to bring each of them finding
the values of lives. Students can identify their abilities, skills, and
intelligence. The important points of learning are how to treat others and what
for we have to learn something.
Teachers are the main key of successful
learning. They do designing, organizing, and evaluating in every learning activity
to their students. They are leaders of class and have authorities to decide
approaches, strategies, and methods of teaching. Kagan (1989) said “teachers
who are well versed in a variety of team structures can create skillful lessons
that engage and enlighten their students”. The skillful teachers can combine
various ways to stimulate their students in learning process interactions.
Cooperative learning is a good approach
to push student`s capabilities in togetherness and unity. According to Ibrahim (2000:7)
“cooperative learning model is developed at least to gain three important aims
of learning: academic achievements, accepting to diversities, and social skill
developments”. Students create teamwork to solve the problems and they will forget
about their differences. It can make students more responsible to their action
because it will bring effects to their group. Positive competition is also
grown in every group. Students have highly motivation to do the best things not
only for themselves but also for their peers. They have desired that all of
them get the best results in examination.
In cooperative learning, teacher is a
centered aspect to success of the students. Teacher should be involved actively
to manage this way. It can be started how to identify our students, what
cognitive level of our student is, and why we have to combine students in many
different backgrounds to work in a group. As the teachers, we have to believe
to our students and we have to give them chances to show their ability. We
cannot give up in every single achievement of our students.
